Icaraí de Amontada is a small fishermen village located in the state of Ceara,
in the Nordeste region, about 180 km from Fortaleza (
Visualize here a map of the area).
It is a wide open bay, surrounded by sand dunes and coco trees.
The local weather is warm and dry and on this west part of the littoral, the precipitation levels
are very low as the wind blows about 9 months a year. (From June to February).
With the thermal effect accelerating the southeastern trade winds, the wind is strong and regular, between
20 and 30 knots every day. Below is a graphic showing wind statistics along the year.
(Wind days over 4 Bf percentage)
You can access Icaraí de Amontada by bus from Fortaleza, but the road
is quite long and exhaustive, we can then offer you transfers from the airport in individual cars,
or minibuses for groups, with eventually a night in Fortaleza, depending on the flight arrival.
There is no required vaccine for stays in the Ceara state, and respecting the basic health advices,
there is no particular risks. You should prefer mineral water, avoid vegetables abuses,
and choose your drinks without ice cubes, except for caïpirinhas, because cachaça kills
all germs off-curse.
The money is the real (1 us dollar = 1.7 reals), and if the credit cards are well accepted in
the major cities, it becomes more difficult in small villages. You will be able to withdraw
money at the airport, or in Fortaleza at the “banco do brasil”, make sure to check your accounts
withdrawal capacities.
